I never know what do with my shoes.
We lived in this giant cake for a week.
This is the god of golden spray paint who watches over elephants made of porridge.
This flower was as big as my torso.
Outside the Taj.
Indian medicine cabinet.
Check out the biker with the water cans.
View of the blue city from Gala, the monkey temple.
Boats on the Ganges.
There was a monkey living in this boat.
The bookstore didn't have the second Dune novel.
Pictures of invisible gods.
Bathroom walls.

Total girl question, but have you bought anything cool (besides hash :) I know it would be a pain in the arse to cart around in your travels, but you must be finding some cool shit to bring home...
i like how the look of the city is always in browns and tans, then occasional colors thrown in- like the green shutters or the blue buildings. how long you there for?
V: We're technically "backpacking". We have an extra duffel bag each for gifts. For myself, I've bought art supplies, a shoulder strap plastic tube to carry finished drawing in, a long sleeved shirt printed with gods, a golden (but not shiny) head wrap for the sun, and an electric shaver. Books too, but I ditch those as I finish them.
Mostly the stuff we see for sale that would normally be cool seems touristy and exploitational. If I could I'd bring my Mom home a puppy.
M: We leave the art residency (chock full of new work, I must say) this friday, stay in Kolkota for a day and a half, they fly South to the jungle for two weeks, move around all over the place there and come home on Dec 22.
i mistakenly thought you were back, intermittently posting pics and text. my bad. sp what exactly is up with the color blue and the... what were they? "djinn" spirits?
Nope, we're here for the long hall. . . gotta love grant money.
The blue keeps the houses cool in the heat of the desert.
In Islamic mythology, the Djinn are fiery spirits, from the Arabic word "junna".
matt - we got on bedjump again. this time with much better pics. check it out:

i like the green shutters and pictures of invisible gods extra much and that cake building too and do you snuggle the goats and feed them with your rich western surplus or is all that frowned upon? how much love can you give the goats i mean. last night we chose which of your short story prints we're hanging (first at least). 8 of them totally monopolizing wall and right above tv - the best apartment wall real estate hands down.
